Beautiful BD5 project

Bradford( )Volunteers from across the BD5 area will be showing pride in their neighbourhoods next week.From Monday, 8 June the volunteers will be helping to tackle litter and other environmental problems.

Bradford Council’s Neighbourhoods Service has helped to ogranise the events that mark the start of the Beautiful BD5 project.

The project will help residents focus on being proud of where they live by encouraging them to think and act positively about BD5. Initiatives include doing litter picks, supporting street events, a photography and poster competition and support to help residents clean up their gardens and yards.

Coun Arshad Hussain, Bradford Council’s Executive Member for Neighbourhoods and Community Safety, said: “This is a great project to bring communities together and show the community spirit and pride that exists in their local areas.”

Community groups taking part in the litter picks and visual audits include Light of the World, The Westend Centre, parents at St Stephen’s and Newby Primary Schools, the School Council at Dixon’s City Academy, Parkside Residents Association, the Youth Forum at the Arc on Canterbury estate, Marshfields Resident’s Association, residents of both Accent Housing and Manningham Housing Association and young people who attend West Bowling youth group.
